Evening Update (and pics)

Angela takes Holy Communion.

Dad gives VIATICUM

Thanks, Kerschners! Shayla said she had "more than fun!"

Yesterday Shayne asked to speak with a priest so today they sent someone to bring us Holy Communion. (Little did we know sweet Sylvia would drive down from Allentown to bring it to us later, oops. She's soooooooo sweet!!) While I was off reading with Shayla for about an hour, Sylvia helped Shayne get Christi into the shower. That was a big accomplishment. She must feel better now. Today she improved compared to yesterday and that makes us all feel calmer. We're praying like crazy for a lower LDH and confirmation on a CT scan tomorrow.

Today in church Christi's name was at the top of my prayer list (the congregants in my church speak the names out loud). I'm happy to hear she had a better day, and hope tomorrow is even better still.

I know tomorrow will be a very emotional day for the Thomas Team, as there will be the scans and those difficult discussion afterwards, plus Shayla leaving by herself (This brave girl better have a special SuperSib package coming her way!!!!! What an amazingly supportive sister. She does such a great job of being independant so her parents can focus their energy on her sister. I am in awe of what amazing children you have. All the more heartbreaking that such horrible things have happend!!!). But If I am not mistaken, tomorrow will also mark four years since diagnosis of this evil horrible disease in your precious Christi. Those unniversary days are always so painful and bring back such terrible memories. I hope you will be granted some bright spots and glimmers of hope in the day. I hope at least Christi will be kept free of pain, and maybe able to share that cutting wit of hers a little more.

Shayla, it was soooo good to see you again this afternoon! Oh you just make me grin from ear to ear! I'm sorry that I could not stay longer to play, but I promise we are going to do that one of these days! I'm so glad that you had fun with the Kerschners. Their dog looks just like my brother Stephen's dog!

Shayne, you are like the mighty oak. Your gentle, compassionate, loving care that you give Christi...knowing the heartache you carry and never once letting it get to you in front of her.

Angela...you are such a special mom. With your mind in a million directions keeping everyone calm and happy.

Christi. Oh Christi. Thank you for allowing me to help you today. How I wish I could take all of that pain away. I hope you get a good night's rest tonight.

love you much. sylvia

oh...p.s. thanks for that delicious bagel

...do the Kerschner's want to borrow our blow up Nittany Lion to put next to their Buckeye? : ) xo

Hi,

I bet Shayla will have the greatest adventure flying by herself. She will have LOTS to tell her friends when she gets home (box seats and everything...LOL...what a riot)!! She is a dolly! We'll be praying for a WONDERFUL, safe experience for her and peace for you till she arrives home!
Love you all!

I'm glad today was a little better for Christi, and I continue to pray for her comfort. She and another little sweetheart, Penelope, that you'd mentioned on your site earlier are so often in my thoughts and prayers. Penelope is going to try an experimental drug, Nifurtimox, and I pray that it will be the miracle she needs, and I pray that the radiation will have significantly helped Christi; I hope her LDH will be lower and her tumor load reduced. Prayers also for Shayla and a safe trip home.

Hoping and praying that today brings good news on Christi's scan and LDH level.

I also hope Shayla has a safe flight home and that the airline staff treats her like a princess. God sure blessed you with two amazing and brave little girls.
