A Shimmering Star
"A Shimmering Star"
Written by Felicia Reinhard
In memory of Christi Thomas
Christi Thomas a shimmering star
touching the hearts of both near and far
a little girl so bold and brave fighting
to survive from day to day
her website captured all of her fight
through the laughter each day
and the tears at night
all around the world people would sit
to read of her progress, stories and wit
It was hard not to love her because of her smile,
her spirit could be felt over thousands of miles
Now in heaven flying high we all take time to
look up at the sky
A new star shimmers through the night
to help us see she won this fight
Cancer is evil, cancer is bad, but it can’t
erase the life this amazing girl had
Cancer committed the worst crime
fighting with Christi over a long period of time
But her braveness and courage shined right through
As she blessed us with her spirit bright and anew
So remember Christi when you look up each night
When you think of all the children who put up this fight
She’s helping the world see even in cancers dim light
the spirit of one little child can shine ever so bright.
(Thank you, dearest Felicia! We hope to one day meet you in person! Best wishes to you and thanks for this amazing poem and your love and prayers! Love, the Thomas team)

Have you ever been way up high in the mountains at night looking up at the stars? Boy, you can sure see a lot of 'em up there. Tons of stars shining bright, shooting stars. Beautiful. Breathtaking.

Dear Angela and Shayne,
The poem is lovely, so beautiful with the pictures on it, Christi is lovely in all these pictures. She always looked so happy. Even in the picture with Shayne taken in the hospital shortly before she died, there is a look of angelic serenity on her face, it is beautiful. You have so many lovely pictures to keep those wonderful memories of the happy times you had together.
I hope you three are ok.
Take care,
love Angela
I have followed your story for a while. You and your family are wonderful. My granddaughter has Stabismus and is being treated at OSU in Columbus. We are doing vision therapy from home, a computer based program and string and beads exercise. She receives an office visits once a month. What type of treatment did Shayla receive?
Hello,
I just wanted to comment on your last entry about cereal boxes and how much sadness that brings you. Please, never apologize..grieving is a process and anyone who is a parent, or has a heart for that matter would never blame or be surprised by your emotions. I have a 2 year old and a 5.5 month old and the other day he had dropped his favorite book amongst our laundy pile in our closet. I thought of your darling Christi and how if I lost my son that book would make me so sad. I am just thankful that we have a God who loves us more than we could ever imagine and that is loving Christi so fully..obviously that doesn't lessen the hurt you all feel. Praying that the days get easier. I know my grandmother who lost her daughter at age 6 to neuroblastoma was exceptionally wise about grief/loss and one of my last conversations with her was about how she wasn't ever going to be sad to die and leave this earth because she just knew her sweet Leslie was going to meet her at heavens gate joyfully screaming.."Mommy, your home!"
Lots of prayers are said for you all daily!
