Can You Guess the City?

Shayla and Shayne rode along with me as I attended a wonderful teachers' conference this weekend. (It is always great to spend time with people you do not see enough of!) Shay and Shayne were able to enjoy many of the city's sights and I joined in when I could. Can you figure out the city? (Click on the "red" above to see the Photobucket slideshow.)

Thank goodness for those racetrack photos...I was totally stumped until I got to those! I was thinking the Kentucky Derby, and then I got lucky when one of the photos had a sign for Churchill Downs! So Kentucky is my guess. I think that Louisville is the city - am I right, Shayla? :-)

There is an indoor waterpark really close that is just UNBELIEVABLE! Hope that you enjoyed yourselves!

Hello Thomas Team. Being in the Southern Hemisphere puts us at a distinct disadvantage. But thanks to Google, here is what our family came up with.....Our guess is Louisville, Kentucky. There is snow on the ground in some of the pics and we had to find a USA map to see if Louisville looked like a place it would snow. We still don't know about the snow bit. On one of the signs we saw 'first derby 1875' so we googled that and came up with the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs. Then we saw CD on one of the stands and later a photo with the words Churchill Downs. We hope we are at least close this time as we've never been able to figure out the answer to one of your geography quizzes before. We can't figure out the significance of the golden chandelier in front of the 7th Street sign. Googling a chandelier in Louisville hasn't helped us. We hope you can let us know. Good night from Australia, Michelle.

I am confident that you spent your weekend in my hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. I recognize The Louisville Science Center, Churchill Downs, and the Phantom of the Opera was in town last week. My family has a pass to the Science Center; it would have been neat if we would have been there at the same time. They have a lot of nice interactive exhibits for children. I hope you enjoyed your visit!

I've just read all of the updates on Christithomas.org. The donations sound incredible. You've certainly been very busy. I have no doubt that Christi has approved of your many tributes and donations in her name.

I can never walk into a bookstore or library anymore without Christi coming to mind. And the MSKCC has become a regular "stop" on my outings.

It's simply amazing how much one little girl can inspire.

That is most definitely Louisville, KY ... the home of my husband. But you have to say Louuhvuhl... not loueyville. Even my kids say it the "right" way.

You are in the great city of Chicago. Arlington Race track. At
least that is what it was called 30 years or so ago. I used to work there when I was 16 years old.
