$1,000 Christi Thomas Scholarship for a Heidelberg Jr. Majoring in Education

The website page isn’t quite ready yet, (very, very soon) but we’re anxious to share how some of the Christi Thomas Memorial Funds will be utilized for years to come. One of the projects includes the fact that there will be three $1,000 Scholarships awarded each year. One of these three $1,000 scholarships will go each year to a Heidelberg College Junior who is majoring in Education. (Last night I had the pleasure of telling my students about this at the end of class. They smiled, I cried - oh well. I know Christi would be happy and we believe this 'Berg scholarship help others as she would desire.)

In her nine short years, Christi Thomas repeatedly demonstrated her thirst for knowledge and her love for learning. In her memory, the Christi Thomas Memorial Fund was established to facilitate her desire to help others and to leave a lasting legacy. Although her disease and the required travel for cancer treatments could ravage her body and take her away from her home and friends, it could never take away her rich experiences, captivating books, yearning to discover more and her desire to do good deeds.

Christi delighted in spending time with the Heidelberg Education Department and said many times, “I’m going to Heidelberg for my first college.” Christi wanted to study science. Despite four years of treatments, Christi always delighted in reading and learning. This annual scholarship will allow others, like Christi, to continue their love of learning at what is rated one of the country’s top institutions – Heidelberg College.
