Christi Plays "Happy Birthday" to Shayla

What cuties!(Feb. 12, 1999 - CT age 21 months)At this time last year there was great concern about Christi's grave condition; therefore, nothing special had been planned for Shayla's 7th birthday. About seven days before we were afraid that Christi would die on Shayla's birthday. We prayed so hard that she wouldn't. Thank Him for answered prayers!! Christi felt miserable and we knew we couldn't give Shayla the celebration she deserved. Three days before her birthday we called our family and asked if they'd just come to our home to celebrate Shayla turning seven on Sunday. Thankfully, they did. Christi had a rough day, but she was able to get up some to play and she made it downstairs to give her little sister the present she bought for her before her health declined.
We knew Shayla's birthday this year- another first without Christi, would be very difficult so Aunt Marty offered to have it at her home. This will help us tremendously as I'm afraid otherwise we'd just be reflecting back to last year when we were so worried about Christi. Interestingly noteworthy, Shayla's 6th birtday in 2005 was also held at Aunt Marty & Uncle Jeff's!! It's hard to believe in this video clip of Christi playing that piano that Christi was younger than Shayla is now! She made a big crown for Shayla and she wanted to take her keyboard to play "Happy Birthday" to Shayla - just like she also did when she was six. 2004: Shayla (5) Christi (6) hugs Shayla and gives her the toy she sewed for her.

2006: Christi managed to get out of bed to give Shayla her present. CT age 8, Shay Shay, turned 72007: Shayla's 8th birthday. She made her birthday cake this morning and is ready to go to Aunt Marty's. We will not be able to capture any picutres of the girls together this year, but Christi will be in our hearts and minds every minute of the day. I don't believe it will be an easy day. Happy Birthday Shayla! We love you!!

Oh thanks for sharing that Video! How adorable and sweet.

What a precious video. Shayla looks so happy, and Christi played awesome!
I hope that Shayla's birthday's a great one, full of love and celebration. I'm sure that you will feel Christi's presence, and know that she's wishing her sister a happy birthday and a great year. I'm just so sorry that the girls can't be together physically, and I'm sure that it will be a bittersweet occasion for you, remembering Shayla's birthday last year. The video is just precious, with Christi offering her musical tribute to her sister.
