Little Shay's Last Weekend
In September of 2001, we took the girls to Bowling Green to the "Black Swamp Art Festival" and thoroughly enjoyed it. We looked forward all year to going back in 2002. When the Saturday arrived, after bringing Christi home from school with a limp on Friday, Christi was not up to going. As you can see from the pictures, Shayla had a lot of fun with her daddy at the festival.
I still remember spending much of that gorgeous September Saturday sitting on the couch with Christi who didn't feel well and who was told she had a "sore throat" by our family doctor that morning. The next day I drove her to the ER because she said she "couldn't breathe" and the rest is history. I look at these innocent pictures of Shayla and realized how quickly her little life changed after that weekend, never was it the same. Shayne saw these pictures this week and sadly said, "She was so little."

Shayla is a true hero. I am in awe of her strength and her huge heart. She and Christi are a testament to their very wonderful parents.
Love you,
Olivia
