It's a Wrap

The batteries in our digital camera bit the dust today before the curtain even opened. (I know many of you are whispering, "thank you!" but to those who aren't - don't worry! I took a backup camera so I'll have "something" to share as soon as I get the photos developed.) Again, the girls were all lovely and it was fabulous to be sharing great memories with good friends/family. On the way to "Denny's" with Grandma Donna after the recital, the girls were talking about what dance classes they may want to take next year. I pray Christi gets the chance.

One of Christi's sweet and amazing young supporters, Jennifer, and her mother came to watch the recital. Jennifer conducted two profitable "Alex & Christi's Lemonade Stands" this weekend at Walmarts in Fremont and Norwalk. With their matching grant, she'll have raised nearly $1,500 for pediatric cancer research. On-line donations are available through an amazing website she set up and I just discovered yesterday. If you're interested, here is the link: http://www.firstgiving.com/jenniferlynn714 (It's also available by clicking above on "It's a Wrap"). Thanks, Jennifer!

Next week, I'll have some video clips to share- including one of Dr. Maris going into the dunking booth, all thanks to Liz Scott's great aim!! (Who cares if she's so tiny and throws like a girl? It's all about accuracy - Gooooooooo, Liz! I know Alex is so proud!) At Alex's oringinal stand at her elementary school, $90,000 was raised! Liz told me the most memorable part of the day was when they released 248 butterflies- the number of children who die each day from cancer. It was the rememberance of why people all over the globe took part in the weekend's Lemonade Days.

"This is the best week of the summer!" Christi declared upon learning yesterday that Ritz Theatre Summer Camp starts in the morning. She's hoping for a big part this year. (Shayla's just up for a lot of fun this week- smile). They're performing "The Little Mermaid" on Friday at 7:00 PM and Saturday at 2:00 PM on the stage at the Ritz. Tickets are $5.00 and you can buy them at the box office prior to the show if you are interested. We'd love to have you join us!

So to wrap up the weekend we thought it important to continue to expose the girls to culture; therefore, as soon as Shayne gets home from driving his sweet Grandma Dixie back to her home......we're heading to the Drive-In movie theater! (Now THAT's quite a cultural experience we do once each summer and laugh about it all year.) "Cars" and "The Shaggy Dog" are playing at dusk. Here's wishing you and yours a fabulous week together! Be safe!

Christi and Shayla....I can't wait to see what you will be dancing to next year!!! Oh, and The Little Mermaid?! She is Michele's favorite princess! I can remember the first time we went to Disney... just before The Little Mermaid movie was released.... Michele bought the "stuffed" Flounder (no pun intended! hehehee!)but we really had no idea who he was! : )

I have a special fondness for butterflies...did I ever share with you the story about the butterfly who appeared in our livingroom on 1/13 (yes, JANUARY!) two years ago? It was crawling across the top of our sofa and then it fluttered onto my shoulder...there were some neat stories that surrounded its appearance. Dr. Maris must surely be a good sport! What a guy! I'll bet Alex was giggling in Heaven!

Aren't Drive-In movies the best??! We have one not far from our home and we also try to do that every summer. We always go early and "tailgate"... after all, you know us Penn Staters ARE the best tailgaters.... and it doesn't only have to be for a game! : )

Enjoy your week also! God bless you and may each day be filled with miracles! love to you.

I loved the show. Thomas girls, you both danced beautifully!! I got some great pictures...check your email.

I noticed those movies playing at the drive-in as we were going home. I have NEVER been to the drive in. I guess I'm not very cultured...

Love, Jennifer

DELIGHTFUL!! What joy it brings me to see Christi and Shayla with their great Grandparents and enjoying summer as little girls should.

I hope Christi gets the part she's hoping for at the Ritz Theater camp! I can't wait to see the video clip of Dr. Maris taking a dive in the dunk tank. :)

Hope you enjoyed the drive-in.

Much, much, love many prayers,
Heather
