Birthdays Picture Parade

With great sadness, I ask for your prayers for yet another fallen warrior's family. We first met the "Tressler Team" (as we named them anyway) when Bryan and Christi were in treatment together in March of 2003 with both of the kids were doing the 3F8 attempt. Shayne was able to meet with Bryan's dad when he came to Ohio last year and Christi and Bryan last treated together at CHOP - exactly one short year ago. While technically "infection" killed this wonderful fourteen year old boy it's just yet another sickening way this evil beast manages wins. I know I'm perhaps too angry to write this morning, but I can't help but feel another family was robbed of their precious son - a fine (and "very cool" Christi thought) young man. Christi & Bryan may be snowboarding in Heaven, but a cure must be found soon!

FUNNY: On the way home from school tonight to drop off Shayla with my mom to run to class (where I'm currently on a ten minute break) I told her that I had been trying for many weeks to get a message to Christi to be waiting at Heaven's gates for little Penelope. Well, I told Shayla I imagined Christi sitting with a stack of books and about five pets waiting when suddenly Bryan Tressler comes whizzing by on his snowboard and Chrsiti says, "What? I've been waiting for Penelope, but I think that kid who just came flying past here was Bryan from CHOP - but didn't he have green or blue hair the last time we were together?" Shayla roared with laughter over that one. Mom was planning to go out to the cemetery for the very first time with Shayla tonight. (Shayla actually likes visiting Chrsiti's grave. My mom has yet to go out there.) Mom told me that the cemetery said she needs to come out and sign paperwork saying it's ok for Christi to be buried in one of her plots. Mom and I had some really great laughs over the responses she "could" give them!

I hope Blogger's now permitting the pics. I've had so many good ones latey. (OK, I'm bias!) Back to class now! Take care!

I am so sorry to hear of yet another loss; this is just so sad. A cure cannot be found soon enough but with FU-NU06, I am sure Christi is working magic to make sure it happens.

I love all of the birthday pictures-- simply adorable!

Many hugs,
Olivia

What gorgeous pictures of Christi.

I'm very sorry to hear of the death of yet another warrior, you're right we MUST find a cure! I will be praying for them.

I was laughing too at the thought of Christi waiting on Penelope and seeing Bryan instead.

Much love to you and yours and many prayers,

I pray for peace and comfort for Bryan's family as they're going through the toughest loss you can possibly go through. Bryan was a very cool kid and had great hair!

Christi grew from an adorable baby into a beautiful young lady as the years went on and it only makes me wonder what she would've looked like this year on her 10th birthday. I know she's now a beautiful angel but how I'd love for her to still be here on earth. However since that isn't possible, I know the best party will be held in her honor/memory this weekend and she'll be right there in spirit! *Stay Strong*

Hi Thomas Team from Philly! We no more arrived and the present of Christi was apparent. Once we were settled in the RMH, Eden was hungry and wanted to run to McDonalds so as we were walking out we looked for a stroller for her and there were none to be found. As we headed for the door one of the Volunteers was walking our way with Christi’s Jogging stroller and asked if we would like to use it… I have seen it enough in pictures to know it was hers. I cried all the way to McDonalds. The next day Flashes of Hope showed up at Clinic to do pictures of Eden and asked if we knew Christi. Later that day after we were settled into our room I went to the kitchen and ran into another parent who’s Child has Neuroblastoma and once she found out we were from OH she asked if we knew Christi. Please know that Christi’s memory lives strong here in Philly as well as in the hearts of all who knew her!

Love and prayers

Lisa could not be more right-- Christi is everywhere. What a testament to the legacy she has left and the millions of lives she has touched. We are most blessed to call her friend.

A favorite from StoryPeople:

It is still so new & all we see is the empty space, but that is not how it is in the landscape of the heart. There, there is no empty space & she still laughs & grapples with ideas & plans & nods wisely with each of us in turn. We are proud to have known her. We are proud to have called her friend.
