Sister Act

The Shayla update: She is going to school, gymnastics, Ballet, and religion thanks to transportation provided by Grandma Nee Nee. We are very fortunate to have my mom helping out.

Our bedtime stories have been the Disney Fairy Books. Tonight Shayla decided that we were in Pixie Hollow and she was going to discover her fairy talent. I suggested that her fairy talent could be dish washing. So she tried it! Worked out well because I got a couple pots scrubbed before she decided that maybe her talent was with Hamsters.

She answered the phone tonight when Angela called by saying "How's Christi doing?" so selfless! Shayla and Christi talked on the phone for about an hour before bed. I video taped them talking so that Shayla could have a reflection of what their relationship was at this time. Kind of hard to believe that they have been separated almost all of 2006.

Someday, regardless of how things turn out for her sister, Shayla is going to step out from Christi's shadow. Hopefully, she will embrace all that has transpired and turn it into something positive.

Christi and Angela are managing OK. Christi's counts have not come up as of yet. Her attitude seemed chipper tonight on the phone...so far no fever. Angela's priorities are in the right place, she is with Christi. So sad that she must leave so many of her other passions alone for now. It is unfair that she is not with the junior high kids on the second floor or tumbling the cheerleaders at lunch nor presiding over the NWOEA awards banquet.

We'll update more soon.
Shayne

Well Miss Shayla! You are an AMAZING sister! I can tell that you and dad are buds while mom and
Christi are hanging out in Philly. I'm sure there are tough moments, when you really miss mom and Christi, and I know that so many people are praying for Christi, but please know that we pray for you too. Love reading about the things that you are doing also. I'd take hamsters over dishes too! : ) I hope you have a wonderful Friday.

Hello Christi! You and your sister sound like our Michele and Meghan...I think they too could gab on the phone for an hour. And being that they are not at the same colleges they do IM and e-mail often. Meghan is home on break but had been sick, so I didn't want to even offer to come down this week, but Michele will be home on Sunday night and she's feeling healthy and commented that if it works with your schedule, maybe we could take a ride down. I hope you're having a pretty decent day. Okay, ready for my special Hail Mary prayer? Hail Mary, full of grace, please make those counts rise in front of our face! : ) It'll happen! BELIEVE! love, sylvia

I'm glad the girls got to talk on the phone--it must be hard for them to have to spend so much time apart. I'm also glad that Christi sounds cheerful, and hope that she remains so over the weekend--I'll be praying for no fevers. My prayers remain with your family.

Shayne, Thanks so much for the update. I was getting worried as we had not had an update for a day or so. That Shayla is adorable. I'm glad she and Christi could talk. It must be hard for both of them. They are two very lucky little girls to have such selfless parents. My prayers as always are with all of you, as the prayer warriors contine to work overtime for their favorite angel on earth. Thanks for keeping us updated. Ellen

With such amazing parents and older sister, Shayla, will continue to grow and develop as beautifully as she has so far. I admire your attempts to maintain as normal as possible day to day life for this special little girl.

Continued prayers for the entire Thomas team as you continue to inspire.

You all are in my thoughts and prayers. My little sister (Elizabeth Heibertshausen) thinks the world of Angela; she has made quite an impression as an educator.

Shayla and Christi, even though they're still so young, have shown more courage, selflessness and strength than most adults will ever know.

Thinking of you,
Stephanie Heibertshausen
