Thomas Team in Texas

A blast from the past: Silly Christi, age 4 1/2, 2002<

With thousands of dollars being spent last year alone on airline tickets to get Christi to Philadelphia for her care, there were sad times when her situation rapidly changed and tickets had to be cancelled or changed at the last minute. Sometimes we were able to change these for other flights or get a credit issued sometimes were just out of luck. In the midst of trying to get things wrapped up I came across a paper I had stored in a fire proof box which had a credit of nearly $1,000 from our ticket cancellation last January 4th. If not used by January 4th it would turn into zero $$$. I called the airlines to check the status and then called Melissa to see if we could fly to Texas to visit for the weekend and she replied, “OF COURSE!” with great joy. The price was right (already paid for and soon to expire); so we left after work last Friday and we returned home at midnight. We thank the Bakers for opening up their hearts and their home to us. Shayla got to go to her first Chick Filet (sp?) and we also visited a great science center which was free thanks to our great COSI pass. (The Heard Science Center in McKinney - very nice!) Saturday night Melissa and Mark treated us to a fabulous Tex-Mex restaurant and Sunday we really enjoyed attending service at their incredible church. We had a glorious time with our Ohio turned Texan fans – the Bakers!

What an adorable picture of little Christi! What a goof!

Those pictures show an awesome time with the Bakers. I love the last picture. The boys look like they are a hoot! Something tells me their personalities went great with Shayla's.

GLAD TO HEAR YOU HAD AN AMAZING TIME WITH THE BAKER CREW!

:) ERIN

PS.. I THOUGHT OF YOU GUYS WHEN I FOUND THIS NEW PROGRAM TO MAKE SLIDESHOWS YESTERDAY. YOU CAN ADD IN VOICEOVERS, MUSIC, AND MANY OTHER FEATURES. IT IS CALLED MICROSOFT PLUS! PHOTOSTORY. IT MIGHT BE INTERESTING TO CREATE PHOTOSTORIES OF EACH YEAR OF CHRISTI AND SHAYLA'S LIVES.

AND I APOLOGIZE FOR THE CAPS - MY COMPUTER IS BEING SILLY!

LOTS OF LOVE FROM THE EMPIRE STATE,
ERIN

I'm so glad you were all able to enjoy a weekend get-away and spend time with friends you haven't seen in so long. That's such a cute picture of Christi in the tub. Thanks for continuing to share so many of your favourite family photos with us online.

Oh Thomas Team! I am so happy to hear you got away for a bit to visit with your long lost Baker Friends in Texas! It looks and sounds like you all had a really nice time! I know Christi was looking down keeping you all safe and must have had a chuckle when you found the ticket voucher she must have hid from you! Another great sign that she is with you all! Praying and thinking of you all daily if not hourly! Oh and I just LOVE the tub picture of Little Christ above ... she is simply beautiful and innocent!

Love from my family to yours!

Hi Angela,

I have followed your story since the very first days through forwarded emails before you got the website via home and garden party friends. I live in the DFW area and so wish I would have known you were going to be in the area. Glad you had a good visit.
