Purrrrrfect Medicine!

We're home! (Exhausted, but home!) Praise God!!

Christi hugged her American Girl dolly and slept soundly in Mr. Grant's van, her stroller, on the plane and on the two hour drive home from the airport. I guess she was resting up for the "purrfect medicine" her Great Aunt Marty soon delivered - Buckeye!

Buckeye was a little scared at first, but soon settled down and curled up with Christi (after the two played with a little ball toy for a while). I can't thank Marty enough for her hard work in obtaining this special cat. Christi placed her new cat sleeping bed right beside her bed.

Buttercup, well........let's just say if Shayne brought home another wife and said, "Isn't she so cute? We will treat her as an equal member of the family and we will all love her too," I wouldn't be real excited either. Hopefully, Buttercup will come around soon and the two will become pals.

Not to gross anyone out, but (good news) Christi finally (after 12 days of waiting) did it! (You know, "dropped the kids off at the pool" as my husband would say.) Whew! That has to help her little tummy feel better.

Shayne's off at the grocery store now selecting items to put some weight back on this sweetie and getting her new prescriptions. We pray that her mouth sores heal soon so that she can eat. AND - it's FABULOUS to be back with Shayla! I think she grew an inch in my absense!

I don't believe Christi is going to be up to going to school for a full day tomorrow, but we'll see how it goes and hopefully we can go for a little bit at least.

I'm not certain if you can tell from the one photo where Aunt Marty is standing up, but Aunt Marty even brought real candy buckeyes for Christi! Incredibly thoughtful! Christi actually asked for them last night at the hospital and then said, "Oh, I guess this is Pennsylvania, not Ohio."

Those pictures absolutely made my day!! It looks like Aunt Marty delivered the exact medicine Christi needed...nothing like a little feline TLC to put a smile on a little girl's face:) Glad to hear that all is well in the plumbing dept too. *wink*

Sending big hugs and prayers always!

Hi!

What a special story with Buckeye!

Christi looks so good!

Last week when Billy was so out of it form his eye injury, we finally got him to eat via: Smoothies! Fresh strawberries, orange juice, vanilla frozen yogurt and ice.

Keep up the great work!

love,

Dear Angela, Christi, Shayla and Shayne!
I'm so glad you're all back together. From cyberspace, it seems like you've accomplished a great feat and I'm sure it feels the same in reality.

From hospital bed to home.
What could be a better trip!

Much love to you all.
You are constantly in my thoughts and hopes that this is a lasting treatment.

Have fun with Buckeye!
My kitties are sending cyber "meows" of welcome >^,,^<

Welcome home Christi and Angela...and welcome to your new home, Buckeye!

I was glad to hear that you are feeling better. Hopefully your mouth sores will go away and you can eat more and continue to get stronger. I hope that your counts continue to rise and that you can get you next treatment next week! Go Christi!

You have such a sweet Aunt Marty to make you buckeyes and to get you a "Buckeye" kitten! Remember to show Buttercup special attention so that she knows that she is special to you too. We have 2 cats and they can be friendly and play and then they will "fight" with each other. I think that when we aren't home, they are wonderful company for one another.

It is so nice to know that the Thomas Team is once again under one roof for a while!

May God hold you in the palm of His hand!

Great news that you're home. I'm sure Christi and Buckeye have become fast friends. A loving relationship with a special pet can make all the difference in how an illness impacts the body.

Hope the mouth sores clear up soon. I had those after a difficult treatment several years ago and there's no words to describe the pain. Even water hurts. I found sucking on hard licorse(sp.)candy was the only thing that helped. The doctor said it was the anise that removed the sting and burn, if only for a little while.

Prayers that the counts keep coming up and all is well on this week home.

Hey Christi:

This is the first time I've sent you a note. I just wanted to let you know, in case you didn't already, that Buckeyes are also good luck charms! I know you've got lots of friends, family, strangers and even the good Lord rooting for you, but a little luck never hurt either.
I think both of your cats are real dolls! I also wanted to tell you that the pink cap you’ve been sporting really works for you! Not everyone can pull off hats and caps...it's real cute. Of course I also think you are just a beautiful girl (long hair, short hair, or no hair!) with a lot of spunk! It certainly shows in your pictures and jokes. I'm watching your counts and crossing my fingers every day that they come up! Lastly, I'm in nursing school and I plan to work in pediatric oncology. If you are up for it, shoot me an email and tell me what you like about CHOP and what you hate about cancer, and give me some suggestions about how you think nurses could make things more fun, less boring, and less aggervating for you. You might help me make things a little easier for other kids with cancer some day soon!

Take Care,
